Dr. J. Patrick Lewis is the current United States Poet Laureate for Children and the receipient of the 2011 National Council of Teachers of English Excellence in Poetry Award. 

The author of more than 75 poetry books for children, Dr. Lewis' work has been featured on NPR and included in numerous anthologies and collections of poetry.

Dr. Lewis holds a Ph.D. in Economics and served as professor of business, accounting, and economics at Otterbein College until he left to write full-time in 1998.

Horn Book called the work of Dr. Lewis "lively with generous dollups of enjoyment" and "filled with affable wit and infectious cadence."

Dr. Lewis will personalize books at the Literary Festival from 4:00-4:30 and 5:30-6:00.  Limited copies of books will be available for purchase at the event.  You may also purchase copies in advance through Parish libraries.
